How to cut a pineapple

These can be a bit daunting if your knife skills aren’t great. The key is practice really and a sharp knife.

 

Wash first. Keep your knife hand dry. Cut off the top and bottom. Then cut the skin as close as you can manage.


Remove the eyes by making cuts diagonally .


At this point, my mom salts the outside, she says it brings out the sweetness.


Slice into rounds, then you can dice however you’d like. You will need to remove the center core, it is very tough.

Serve, if you want to save some for smoothies, freeze a bit in a baggie. You can also put a piece of foil onto your grill and roast them while your food is cooking. They caramilize well and are great warm.
