During the summer, salads are great when it’s super hot outside.
I started with a simple spring mix of lettuces.
I’m a fan of red cabbage, chopped finely and left raw.
Add some chopped carrots, onions, fresh basil, or whatever you love.
This is the basil off my plant. Not sure what type it is but it’s great.
I sear some steak and shrimp.
Cut on the bias and serve after tossing in sesame ginger vinaigrette.
Garnish with sesame seeds, green onion, and basil.
YUM!
Give it a try!
Here I used:
4 cups mixed lettuce
1 cup finely sliced purple cabbage
1/2 cup chopped carrots
Raw red onions (to your tolerance)
8 large basil leaves
Sesame seeds for garnish
Dressing:
1/2 cup orange juice (squeezing 2 blood oranges is my favorite)
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp sesame oil
2 tbsp low sodium soy sauce or bragg’s
2-3 tbsp sesame seeds
1 inch of grated ginger
This looks great Stacie. I will try the dressing really soon!!!

If you like some spice, amp it up with some cayenne!
